«Nøkkeline». Although no one knows Nøkkens true form, he traditionally appears in a male one, so this is my take on the feminine form of him. It is said that Nøkken lives in waters like these. Water lilies are a sign that nøkken is around. He is a shapeshifter and tries to lure people to enter his water in order to drown and eat then. I think almost every Norwegian child grows up afraid of swimming near water lilies. Even though (most) people don't believe in Nøkken any more, a lot of children are told either by friends or family that if you swim into the water lilies you could drown because they some how would pull you under water. Most people are followed by this fear even as adults. I’ve been wanting to make a photo like this for years and I’m so glad to finally realize it! Thank you @simensandnesdrums for being an amazing photographer as always. Edit and modeling by me.
