Aveline has turned 4 today, and all day long I’m recalling all the tiny details of that special day four years ago. Today is her first birthday that she’s celebrating away from us.
This was a picture I took of our girls in the charming @louislouiseparis dresses right before we left them with my parents. Aveline and Yasmin are now staying with their grandparents for a month, and I’m having such mixed feelings about that.
When I came back home and told one of our friends about that, the first thing he said was: “It’s going to be tough. You’ll have moments when you’ll be happy with your freedom of responsibility and other moments when you’ll feel like you’re a bad parent. You’re not, remember that.”
Well, I didn’t expect that missing them and the guilt feeling would come so soon. But I keep those words in my head, against all the games my mind is playing on me right now.
Today I’m learning my lesson of letting my children enjoy life even far away from me. In the meantime, tonight I’ll celebrate with @mymatters.
#fabfitfunpartner This season calls for hours in the sun and blossoming skin. So I’ve partnered with @fabfitfun to share their subscription box that is full of my newly discovered favorites, like a rose face spray or a Brazilian bum cream. I’m particularly pleased with the fact that all the summer must-haves come in one set.
Head over to my Stories to see all the goodies and, if you’re as addicted to seasonal skin care as me, here’s a 20% discount code for your first box - “MADINA” at fabfitfun.com. Enjoy the sun! X
Choose friends wisely, pick those that make you dance in the middle of the street. They stretch your limits and inspire you to be yourself.
My talented babe @lana.karalus always inspires me to live out of the box, and here’s a good example and the result of our spontaneous creative session in Paris.

#AD Summer is all about flowers, slow family time with jazz music playing in the background and daily vitamins. Aveline never lets me forget that last point because she adores the yummy @vitabiotics Peppa Pig Pro-tummy soft jellies. Which is a win-win, because I get to be a good mum every day by giving her a little 'treat' and she benefits from the added calcium which supports the normal function of digestion enzymes. #WellkidPeppaPig#Vitabiotics
Paris, 👜 @balzacparis and me..
I went on that three day trip on my own without even thinking what that fact would mean to me. And it was only while I was walking in lively streets of Paris, all on my own, that I realized how much I had missed myself all the years that I‘d focus on everything else apart myself. And how much I’d avoid being on my own or thinking about myself. Well, thanks to Paris I’ve got my best friend, myself, back. And it feels pretty special.
#AD Three main things I've been focusing on this year are: enjoying every little moment of life, taking care of my mental health and looking after my body. I am also teaching these things to the girls.
I've started investing so much more time into doing things together with them, as simple as putting fresh flowers in a vase, drawing or cuddling after a long day.
I teach Aveline to love herself by pointing out how beautiful she is, just the way she is and saying that I love her no matter what. I also practice self-acceptance by showing them that it's possible to enjoy being who and what they are.
And when it comes to the physical health, we raise them as intuitive eaters, and it already shows. I am so proud of the healthy choices they make, based on the needs of their bodies, not "rules" that tell them what and how much they have to eat. And to give their bodies some extra support, the girls take the @vitabiotics Wellkid Peppa Pig Pro-tummy soft jellies. Aveline is a big fan of the Peppa Pig shaped supplements, which is great because they provide her with 5 billion cultures and include added calcium, to support the normal function of digestion enzymes. #WellkidPeppaPig#Vitabiotics
Since it’s Sunday and no one is in the mood for a serious talk, here’s Le Marais for you - the district of Paris that I love most so it’s my tip for you - and a short playlist from me. All quite diverse, yet together perfect for my weekend vibe.
Nina Simone - Mr. Bojangles
Vincent Delerm - Robes
Billie Holiday - I’m a fool to want you
Melody Gardot - Les Etoiles
Rosemary Standley - Duerme negrito
Jane Birkin - Harvest moon
Cat Power - The greatest
Emiliana Torrini - Honeymoon child
Anything you’d add to this? Share some new music with me!
The dreamer in her
Had fallen in love with me and she did not know it.
That moment the dreamer in me
Fell in love with her, and I knew it.

(who is my recent discovery, and his poems go perfectly well with my poetic après-Paris mood)
We owe ourselves the love we so freely gift to others.
Have you given yourself a bit of that goodness today?
Мы задолжали себе любовь, которую так щедро дарим другим.
Вы себя сегодня любили?
Some things need time to grow and ripe. That’s how I’ve felt this past year, I just had to take time for myself. And many of you have noticed that I’ve been on and off Instagram ever since last spring (I truly appreciate all the messages of love and care you’ve ever sent me). It was not even Instagram I needed rest from. It was mostly myself, my life and my inner demons that took so much of my mind that I wasn’t able to find space for anything else - including sharing my process here while it was ongoing.
Some months ago I opened up about my body image issues. However it was only a part of the change I was going through. And I was mostly offline because I felt like I couldn’t share just bits of me, I had to be whole to know what my message to the world is. I needed time to culture self-love and self-acceptance. I needed to discover myself all over again.
Now I’m here, I’m ready to be with you again, fully. Although one thing that I know for sure is that self-development never ends. It’s a life-long journey and now I’m enjoying it as it’s supposed to be :)
